In-running Lays: Back-to-lay Vive Ma Fille and Profitable

Profitable

Above: Profitable steps up to 6 furlongs at Newmarket

2.25 York: Vive Ma Fille has been a great horse back-to-lay horse who has not won since her race course debut in March last year which has kept her on a great handicap mark. She is running in her third consecutive handicap and off the same mark of 95 but the step up to 2 miles has seen her run her best races to date. Her three attempts over todays distance of 2 miles have seen her trade down to 2.24 from a BSP of 12.0, 2.50 from a BSP of 19.52 and 3.25 from a BSP of 26.96; she currently trades around 10.0 for a back-to-lay.

4.35 Newmarket: Profitable looks to continue his great run in a highly competitive July Cup in a field of 18 runners. He has won his last three races over 5 furlongs including the group one King Stand at Ascot last time out. There seems a little doubt whether he is as good over 6 furlongs having being beaten over five lengths in to fifth place in the group one Commonwealth Cup last year where he traded down to 8.60 in-running from a BSP of 134.93. That was well before he had shown his improved form of this year, in his next race he was beaten 10 lengths by Meccas Angel over 5 furlongs; form that he has turned around this year beating that opponent both time they have met since.

Profitable travels really well in his races for a sprinter and he should have no problem holding a prominent position just behind the pace. He is currently trading uneasily around 15.0 for a back-to-lay which looks a great price.
