In-running Lays: Back-to-lay Vroom, Bapak Bangsawan and Remember Forever

Above: Tranier and jockey Ann Stokell usually rides Bapak Bangsawan but hands over the ride to amateur Jane Elliott today.

12.15 Southwell: Vroom has put together a string of three good efforts here over course and distance that have seem him win one and finish third the other two times. Today he gets a great draw in stall 3 for a horse that like to race prominently. With no dominating pace to his inside he should be able to take a prominent ground saving position against the rail; he currently trades around 6.0 for a back-to-lay.

12.45 Southwell: Bapak Bangsawan has been on a downward curve since last winning in 2015 but he has a great record of trading low over 5 furlongs at Southwell. This time last year he was racing off 74 but today he races off just 54 and this ‘hand and heels’ amateur race might suit this front-runner who has a lot of early speed. His last six runs here have seen him trade below at least half his BSP; he currently trades around 16.0 for a back-to-lay.

3.00 Lingfield: Remember Forever was an easy winner over course and distance in November in similar ground to todays. Following that win he was stepped up from 2m4f to 3m1˝f and went off the 6/4 favourite despite an 8lb rise, but probably found the extra distance beyond him, finishing 4th, beaten 30 lengths (still traded down to 1.42 in-running from a BSP of 2.89). Back over this shorter distance and at a track which he has run well at both times, he looks a decent back-to-lay with many factors in his favour; he currently trades around 5.50 for a back-to-lay.
