In-running Lays: Back-to-lay Rigadin De Beauchene and Flemenstar

Rigadin De Beauchene

Above: Rigadin De Beauchene gets his ground again at Haydock.

2.40 Haydock: Rigadin De Beauchene won this race 2 years ago on similar ground which saw him peak to a rating of 147. This season he has returned to form with a win and was running a great race last time out in the Welsh national before falling after suffering interference when jumping. He usually front runs but was taken on for the lead in that last race but still managed to trade down to 5.70 from a BSP of 13.70. He has also traded below at least half his BSP in his last 4 races. He should have an easier time for the lead in this 8 runner race; he currently trades around 7.20 for a back-to-lay.

3.25 Ascot: The market leaders Silviniaco Conti and Dynaste are coming in to this race on the back of poor runs, at distances that are on very much on the short side at 2 miles 5 furlongs. Flemenstar makes his first venture out of his native Ireland for this race and is a well-known good traveling horse in his races. At one time he was rated as high as 173, just over 2 years ago and looked one of the best Irish chasers. He had lost his way, but looks to be returning back to form with a recent grade 1 win in a race where he was just 3/1 against the highly rated Un De Sceaux who fell late in the race with Flemenstar still going well in behind. Today’s distance will really suit and should travel well against these stayers, Silviniaco Conti will almost certainly make the most of his stamina by leading; Flemenstar currently trades around 7.0 for a back-to-lay.
