In-running Lays: Back-to-lay Cappananty Con and Black Dave

Horse Racing

1.50 Wolverhampton: Cappananty Con has traded below at least half his BSP in-running in all 5 runs on the all-weather and down to less the 20% of his BSP in 4 of those runs. It is his first run back in handicap company since he finished 7th in a class 5 handicap at Lingfield (on turf) in July, where he traded down to 2.0 from a BSP of 4.53. He ran off a rating of 74 but now races off just 67, and that’s following a great run over course and distance last time out, finishing second to the 75 rated Juan Horsepower. Down in to class 6 company for the first time and after his best performance to date he looks a decent back-to-lay; he currently trades around 10.0.

3.25 Wolverhampton: Black Dave and Rebel Lightning look the pace in this race, but it’s Black Dave that gets the nod with the better draw in 6. He made all over last time out here over 1m½f but now drops down to 7 furlongs which shouldn’t be a problem for this front-runner, as long as he can get a decent break. Black Dave is currently very weak in the market, but the market hasn’t been that reliable of a guide to how David Evans trained horses are going to perform recently; he currently trades around 16.0 for a back-to-lay.
