In-running Lays: Back-to-lay Boolavard King, Belmount and Caolaneoin

Above: Kim Bailey's Boolavard King runs at Ludlow.

2.10 Ludlow: Boolavard King comes up against Nicky Henderson’s highly rated Chocca Wocca, that looks to bring a much higher level of form than anything else in the race. It will be Chocca Wocca’s first run for 10 months and her first over hurdles after a couple national hunt flat races. The other market leaders are also returning from breaks of over a year. Boolavard King has traded below at least half his BSP in all 5 runs to date. He should be right up with the leaders and could take this field along having led the last twice as there doesn’t look any other strong front-runners in this race; he currently trades around 8.0 for a back-to-lay.

2.45 Ludlow: Belmount should like the return to better ground here at Ludlow where his last win came in April 2015. He has been pulled up in 2 of his last 3 races but still managed to trade below at least half his BSP. He has also traded below at least half his BSP 8 times in his last 9 races. The handicapper is finally cutting him some slack having dropped him down a further 4lbs for his last effort to 124 from a high in November of 130, claimer Ryan Hatch is also taking a further 3lb off. He currently trades around 8.0 for a back-to-lay.

4.00 Down Royal: Caolaneoin should be better for his recent run at Nass on the 3rd January where he travelled well for a while to trade down to 3.25 from a BSP of 7.34. He had a great in-running profile in beginner chases but a handicap mark of 118 in competitive handicaps seemed too much and he was struggling to get involved. He now races off just 106 with jockey Shane Shortall claiming another 2lb which should see him more competitive having showed signs of improvement last time out. He is usually held up and travels well in to the latter stages of his races; he currently trades around 7.0 for a back-to-lay.
