In-Running Lays: Back-to-lay Foolaad and Deano

Deano returns to chasing at Clonmel

2.20 Southwell: The lightly raced Foolaad is tackling fibresand for the first time and could be worth a back-to-lay at a decent price stepping back down to 5 furlongs. He found 7 furlongs on soft ground at Newmarket too much but has run well over 6 furlongs and has registered his only win to date over 5 furlongs on fast ground at Doncaster. It’s worth noting how the market reacts to this horse nearer the off as he traded as low as 5.70 early but is now trading as high as 19.50 which seems way too high if he is going to run his usual race.

3.25 Clonmel: Deano is a strong travelling chaser who had a nice seasonal opener in a handicap hurdle at Cork just 11 days ago. His last race over fences was in a beginners chase here at Clonmel in April where he was left in-front at the last when taking up the running for an easy 13 length win. Even without the fall of The Conker Club he looked the winner; his only other appearance at this track resulted in close second after being collared late on. He has traded below at least half his BSP in 12 of his 13 races and below at least 20% of his BSP in his last 8 with 2 wins; he currently trades around 6.0 for a back-to-lay.
